fudgester SG Well, LHL once called on teachers to use rap and hip-hop to teach English. So I guess we can combine both LHL's and Tharman's suggestions and get the native speakers to use rap and hip-hop in English lessons. After all, foreign talent ought to be the most proficient in these things... right?
charlize SG * Imagines a Singapore with Singaporeans speaking like 50 cents * You know what I'm sayin?
fudgester SG Yup, I know what you're saying. Fo' shizzle ma nizzle, ya'll? All thanks to the wisdom of the government, our kids will soon be able to speak just like 50 Cent and use urban rap. After all, we need to be able to understand what the 'native speakers' in the US speak, right? *horrors*....... All hail the collective wisdom of the ruling party.
vito_corleone SG its not the fault of the system that we have an atrocious standard of english..its the street/asian-pop culture that has eroded away the mental ability of our youngsters eg. bengs, mats, hip hop arseholes etc...
fudgester SG I have nothing against rap/hip-hop culture provided it stays only on the streets and not on exam papers and formal occasions. Then again, LHL has different ideas.
vito_corleone SG if people were smart enough to seperate the use of street slang and proper english they wouldn't be into these street stuff in the first place
