a) No.. with a very self centre gov. Take example; the casinos.

b) Nothing....the basic needs like the public transportation, utilities, medical
and etc..The gov had turned all these to almost profit steering
companies. The excuses that the gov gave was...the companies have to be
answerable to its shareholders. But who are these shareholders?...By
individuals or personal that own the most shares of these
companies..? What a hypocritic people they are!

c) Those people who own shares of the public transportation should unload
their shares and reform it to a genuine public serving organisation...utilites
should not be overcharged with excessive taxes.
The rates of charges should be adjusted in accordance to types of housings
and areas. Afterall, these ''companies'' are making huge profits despite of
the increase of whatsoever the oil prices. There ought to be a kind of
balance in the enjoyment by singaporeans so called the ''first world city''
by means of types of housing or areas where some people enjoy it and
some people do not enjoy it and yet they are paying the the ''first world''
rates of charges.

d) Singapore is turning to gambling den. In sport section of Newpaper..it
taught people how to bet on football matches.

e) No..not under this kind strategies of the present ruling party...where
they(gov) are so supportive on FT rather than nurture its own people
so called "staying together and move ahead."
So money face...they took a pay-cut and wayang for awhile..and when
there was a slight recoverery in its GLC or GIC businesses..immediately
the gov re-instated their multi-millions dollars salaries.
They(gov) had forgotten the people are struggling with paying heavy
debt on housing loans, utilites, education, daily expenses, raising up their
children, conservancy charges, medical and etc.

All I can say is........ what a hypocritic leaders that we have!

c) more concrete actions to alleviate rising cost and transparency in public sectors' policies (esp wages of high ranking officials)

d) nope... saturation of industry will allow other upcoming so-called 3rd world countries to catch up in no time

a. I thank Singapore for making me so efficient and aggressively competitive. That is all I can say

b. That I am still kiasu?

c. Transparency in the government instead of a smokescreen.

d. look at malacca - they have a kingmaker, tun perak . When tun perak died - the consequence was dire . Look at Singapore- same story happening.

e. My own country won't give me a chance ,while another country which I have no roots in gave me a chance.

a) Yes, though not as much as I wish I was. I believe we have a (intrinsically) good people, and well-meaning leaders (save LHL and increasingly, LKY). THe main problem with us is our system, and how we choose to clutch to straws in order to preserve it. We - or at least the govt - drags external props to support it e.g communism, war on terror yada yada.

b) the fact that I grew up here, that my friends and family are here...

c) Have more freedom of expression, unmuzzle the press, Ditch the streaming system and replace it with a more integrated variant.

d) not really. If the WP manages to rise up and the SDA can solve its internal disunity, yes. But else, no.

e) I hope so.

Cool Of course must be proud to be singaporean..we are 1st world standard citizen..I wouldn't wanted to be any lower standard citizen else where. My advise is to leave if you cannot follow our standard. Please don't slow us further.. Laughing
