Well I do agree with some of the points in the article but I feel that there is selective emphasis on most of the points that discredit singapore while ignoring those that shows the good side of singapore.

Besides I tend to ignore criticism however well-intended from people whose country has high marijuana smoking rates and condones drug traficking. There I am generalising as well Laughing

I agree that we should be critical of the information our newspapers are feeding us. Like what someone has posted in forum that "Singapore doesn't have journalists but propagandists".

Still one must learn also not to 100% believe information from other sources as well especially ones that easily give rise to feelings of hate, anger and disgust. Those are great selling points if you ask me Laughing

Sad huh? As I've said before, those of us who do read up more on alternative viewpoints and actually do care about local socio-political issues get mocked and berated as 'ingrates', 'charlatans', 'riffraff', '(insert profanity here)', etc etc....

We Singaporeans are screwing ourselves and are too stupid to realise it. Those who actually do realise it are shunned and mocked by the rest.

Well, then you would agree it's a tragedy and a shame. Not all of us are ignorant about it, some of us do read up and are more well-informed about the state of things in this land than the others.

Sometimes, the biggest danger is apathy and ignorance. And the tactics and influence of certain group should be turfed out and dismissed by the common man asap, it's not getting us anywhere, and contributes in great deal to the silence and lack of real verve today.

There is no such thing as selective openness, only a false dream of superiority.
