If the Public Prosecutor has found good ground to find James Gomez guilty - without any doubt - that he had used 'threatening words' towards the Officials in the Election Department - WHY did he let James Gomez off the hook ?

Surely it is against the grain of the Public Prosecutor's Office to let a guilty party off the hook ?

Is this setting a precedence in the Singapore Judicial System ?

Is the Public Prosecutor - or the Attorney-General - authorised to let a guilty party off the hook ?

Why is there so much reluctance - from the Public Prosecutor, the Police and the Home Affairs Minister - to publish those 'threatening words' that James Gomez have been accused of saying ?

If MM LKY has never told a lie in his 82 years, surely it is sheer arrogance to blatantly accuse someone of lying ?

The Establishment simply do not possess the honesty nor the graciousness to admit that there was simply NO CASE against James Gomez; and if the Public Prosecutior had gone ahead to prosecute, Singapore's standing will be very much lower in the First World Community.

The PP does not prosecute all cases...only those cases in which it is judged to be in the public interest to prosecute. The decision whether or not to prosecute is the responsibility of the PP. That is the same the world over.

Read my earlier post...I agree it is not in the public interest to prosecute in this case.

If Gomez is innocent, then he has been defamed by MM Lee. Let him sue Lee if he thinks he can come out clean through the rigors of coss examination.

I can imagine walking down the street with a powerful cruel finger and people cowering away - ahhh! the finger - dont give me the finger; anything but the finger ......

Is it anything to do with the Lee Wah jewellry ad - where the girl points her finger and blows it - could never figure it out.

Perhaps JG should have blown his finger also...or maybe he forgot, which is why he was questioned for so long.

Dude...you seem like a reasonable and intelligent one, why you sprouting nonsense sometimes?

Singapore courts are ridiculously loop-sided when it comes to politically implicated cases. Nobody can sue MM Lee and expect a fair trail and results in Singapore. Simple as that. It is a fact that EVERYBODY knows and singaporeans are starting to come to terms with and accept (from the fact that PAP remains strongly in power dispite its tactics).

Gomez not stupid enough to go down the path of TLH and JBJ....which is good.

The circumstances of the case are such that it may be difficult to establish a criminal charge against Gomez beyond reasonable doubt and perhaps that's one reason the AGC decided not to prosecute.

However, Gomez would have a lower standard of proof if he would take a civil case against MM...just on the balance of probability. Since there are so many forumners who believe that he was innocent and that MM has defamed him by calling him a liar, why not clear his name?

So he may not win, but if he thinks he has a strong case, it would be difficult for the courts to dismiss him. An adverse judgment in the face of strong evidence in his favour will translate into more support for the Opposition.

Being silent, isn't he accepting the MM's description of him as being a liar and a cheat? Having been discredited and lost the elections, he will not have a place in Singapore politics again. If he tries to stand at the next election, PAP will point to his silence as acceptance of his guilt. This will overshadow any political overtures he attempts to make in the future. As such, he will become a liability for the WP.

If this is not in the interest of the public, why did Wong KS spent hours detailing what gomez did, why TV news brocasted this over and over again, why PAP continued to target gomez? or was is that a private matter between gomez and MM?

MM certainly deserved much respect for what he did in the past, and even sometimes, but on this issue, he behaved like a gangster, "Nin pe kong li luan luan kong, beh song si boh, lai lah!"

only in singapore when ministers can call names and challenge citizens to court.

That was before the elections...after the elections, Gomez is dead as a dodo politically..there's no point kicking a dead dog. As for public interest, there is still public interest, but not public interest to prosecute him. The opinions in the forum well illustrate that.
