I have this question here.

My friend's father, voted for P_P just because he is still in the workforce. My own brother voted for P_P just because he is still in the army. I ask him why, he said he say because he is still serving the army.

Why do they have this mentality that if I am still in the army, I have to vote for the ruling party?

5 years later, I will have a chance to vote. I will vote for who I like most, no matter the ruling party, or the opposition. Because since they given me the rights to vote, I will not care who I'm working for or whether I'm in the army. Am I right?

next time no matter what, even if i am working for government, since i have got the rights to vote, i won't possibly waste my vote and listen to them. i will choose carefully myself.

its because everyone have this same mentality la,
the Fear factor...
but think it this way....
if every voted freely, vote as per their choice,
maybe we can see opposition winning much more votes,
as many of them really touched our heart,
and have the sincerity and capability to serve the nation...
and if turns out opposition gains 40-50% votes,
what can the P-P do??
in that case, we are really telling our government...
be it PAP or WP or SDA ruling,
The People are watching everything they do,
and that will also lead to our country to be better than we are now.
Hence, really hope our young ones can take the lead,
if u always asked for freedom from your parents,
why not the FREEDOM to VOTE and SPEAK?

Do you know how many people actually vote for the opposition each election especially in PP and HG.Ever heard that any of them ever kenna persecuted?
Or maybe do you mean that none of the residents there are civil servants?And btw the average man on the street,you think PAP will be bothered to search and destroy everyone? No. History has proven not,they had only went after those select few who join the opposition and those who are a direct threat to them aka those who they feel is popular and may affect their dominationary hold of power.

If you are chinese,have you heard of this saying call Sha Yi Jing Bai translated into english as Killing one to alarm hundreds.That alone is enough for the PAP,they are not going to trace all the small figures cos in the end they still need your votes come next election.

Over the years,if they had really went to trace people and affect some many people's career,do you actually think the PAP is dumb enough not to know that it will affect their votes next election and if they do it over and over each election,they are going to lose more and more support.Have you seen this so far?

Yes me myself was once also not sure of what happen during voting and had fear cos of the linking serial no of the voting slip but well i have since went on to look for info on this and had found out how the system works to ensure confidentiality

I think we have the privilege to vote, not the right to vote. The ability to vote is not part of the fundamental rights of Singaporeans protected in the Constitution.

I agree very very much. If don't even have the guts to vote for SINGAPORE (NOT PAP) when you're in the SAF, dun wear your uniform. If got rank worse, if in the fuedal times, better go commit harakiri to take accountability of your failure to do your bit for the country. Vote for the best person regardless he's which political party.

What I fear is... if this persists... maybe many years down the road Singapore will end up like Tian An Men in 1989... ...

When the SAF regular offr or Spec standing before you was your ex-camp mate during your NS buddy days. Or the soldier standing in front is your neighbour of years. How will he ever have the heart to fire at his friend. Or may as well end up SAF revolting against the government...
