Ministers/MP Salaries vs Minimum Wage Rates

How can Ministers and MP's justify being paid huge salaries when we don't even have a minimum wage rate in this country. I've come across cleaners working in food courts being paid $3 an hour or $600 a month. How do you live in Singapore on $3 an hour exactly? Who exactly protects the lower income earners against such ridiculous wage rates? On the other hand the government is quick to raise salaries/allowances of Ministers/MP's and the President to keep civil servant salaries in line with inflation and a higher cost of living. I believe we raised the salary of the President by over a $100k to $2.5m annualy recently in parliment. Laughing

Ya, I would really like to see a minimum wage imposed. But I am not sure how the economics would work out...the stupid straits times, useless as loo paper, useless as a newspaper, does not give one enough information and debate for one to make up one's mind in an informed manner.

I believe that people willing to work should at least be able to afford a roof over their head, pay the utilities, and sustain themselves.

1500 is the minimum to survive in singapore.

lots of people make less than half of that.
