Do you think this makes more sense -making more efforts to
create conditions of economic union one day as spoken of by Chiam
in reply to PM's challenging WP to produce FTAs.
Even forumers are able to come up with idea like Economic Union
with Malaysia and people-to-people close relationship as the way
out of the current spat between leaders.
Until we examine more options, we cannot see what we miss. This
ability to open up to more ideas and choices has not been shown by
the current top-down autocracy. That is the current problem and has
been the most serious problem for many years. It would seem that
the party in power is controlled by one man and once there is one
option, no other option is allowed to exist.
This lack of option in studying our economic restructuring and
foreign relations and foreign investments has affected the quality
and efficiency of our government. If this control of top management
is not open up and changed to allow the whole team to help out and
decide, there will be more problems and Singapore may find it
difficult to survive.
Hence, if there is any sense in election, it is necessary to
consider change and who can change than having more choices and
more choices mean not just listening to the old tune about which
candidate is better etc but choice.
Surely we do not want to keep listening to oneold tune and only FTA
one-option. If there is no change to the old policies and old
politics we will no doubt dig our own grave or come to see our own
talented citizens leaving this place.
This will be the most heavy price to pay for supporting control and
arrogance.
