Allowing the use of Medisave for Common Listed Ailments

Do you all know about this new policy?

Well, after reading about it's terms and conditions governing its usage, I think they might as well NOT offer it at all!

What the hell can you do with $300 per year???

It's such a half-assed idea - or is it an idea at all?

It's so senseless, and rediculous.

All those from the lower income esp, it can help for the cost of the medicine that needs to be taken in the long run

You should go and ask someone with Diabetes, Hypertension, and Cholesterol how much each month's medication costs them!

Medication for these ailments, even for the middle income earners, is financially quite a burden!

$300 is STUPID!!!!

But the thing is, isn't changes made aft years and years of saying NO?

Another issue to come is this, the govt has to spend money on infastrucrure, education, healthcare and defence... Defintely, you can't be saying spend all the money there... What I suggest is that, look at the patients finanical status and the medical case on a case-by-case basis...

Yes, I agree with what you say, they have endeavoured to build this country well over the decades, but "looking at the patients finanical status and the medical case on a case-by-case basis" is what they aren't doing in this new policy! Also, isn't money in Medisave OUR money?

Perhaps, you should go read through today's Straits Times and you'll know why I'm so fed-up.

Laughing The minister is very good and kind to allow the sickman to use his own medisave which never happened before. I was thinking to recognise the lonely sickman as a singaporean where no other medisave can be deducted, Minister might well just change the law to finished his own Medisave and the rest will be paid by our government. To be fair, give it to all.

So how much are you going to let them withdraw at a time? What if they use up their medisave on outpatient treatment and then run out of money when they need to be hospitalised? What are you going to do for them?

$300 is not much but if patients only use cheap, non-patented drugs and pay a bit more out of their pocket, they may be able to cope...certainly better than not having that money at all.

In the end, health is a personal responsibility. If you want better drugs and services, buy health insurance on your own.

hmmm... what if these people really can't fork out anymore money? do we let them die because $300 is not enough to buy all the medication they need while they have tens of thousands sitting in CPF??

same case with those being declared bankrupt during the economic crisis. These people had a chance to save their buisness but had to be declared a bankrupt even though they have hundreds of thousands sitting in the back.

What's the logic?? BBC reporters once questioned GCT if the government should trust its people. No reply. I guess the answer is NO.

Maybe there's a deeper conspiracy. If everyone is allowed to withdraw their CPF to the full, where will Mrs Lee find the money to buy overpriced foreign companies? How can Mr and Mrs Lee get big bonus from Temasek and GIC when they have not money to make purchases??

Taking OUR money and giving us a mediocre amount, saying that WE cannot spend too much of OUR money for OUR own medicine is ludicrous.

The Health Minister should be fired for this. And if he's a man, he'll resign like the Ministers of foreign "First Class Government".

But wait... our government isn't first class and our ministers don't have to take responsibility for "honest mistakes"... so forget it.
