every MYS know that when SGP come over, their wallets are full. so like the initial story, no need knives, guns or anything.
Just walk up to you and just spin a story, and you just strip naked.

I bet they must be laughing at their kopi-shop boasting how they can make clever singaporean strip with a story.

and we are all jamming to go JB to test this theory and get bitten.

I would love to go JB or rest of Malaysia, to explore the "truly asia", but if I have to risk losing my car, my wallets, handphone, I think I stay in the small backyard of Mine (singapore) and sip my ice cold beer.

Happened to me b4. Saying that I was speeding. Showed me tons of speed trap photos. I insisted that they give me a summons for the speeding, the photo and I will gladly go to the JB police station to pay the fine.... do not move from your stand. They gave up after like half an hour and i went on my way.

or perhaps even watching them..

if the 3 NS guys were to take him out.. what if the local police decides to side the Malaysian? most of us should know what the malaysian police are like..

so in this case, it either your money or your life..

I certainly do not encourage the 3 NS guys to take out that moron who threatened them. Why create unnecessary trouble in foreign land? The issue here is : Should they have compromised when they were at a clear advantage? Plus this happened at a crowded shopping mall.. Any gang out there with some cow sense will not dare to do anything unless they answer to the god of stupidity. A smarter solution will be to 'escort' that moron to the nearest security post or police station.

And assuming the local police sided with that moron, what can possibly happen to the 3 S'poreans?

i just went to JB on monday. one thing i notice is there's quite a number of security guards patrolling around in City Square. and they certainly look fitter den our own.

however, i have no idea if they actually conspire with the local gangs. meaning that even if the 3 guys pin the robber down would the guard side the MY or the SG.

Oh, BTW. on my way to eat seafood (usual place at taman there). my cab went pass a dead man by the roadside. he was lying face up at the front ponch of a house. face covered with newspaper. Cabbie (chinese) told common to have fightings in JB den getting pple killed.... Shocked

came home safe and sound, took only 100 RM and 40 SGD with no phones no wallets. only cash and passports. and was dressed down.

Their police also not very trustworthy la. I heard many story regarding traffic police giving out "fines".

oh.. about armed guards in malaysia.. when i was in KL a few years ago, the armed guards there made me even more scared...

they were armed with those pump-action shotguns..

only thing was, when i saw them, they were on a break... the just left their shotguns in a corner and were talking over coffee and cigarettes nearby (but not within reach of their shotguns) and not keeping an eye on their weapons or anything at all..

Have been watching this thread for a few days now, and think now I should say something finally Laughing

I grew up in JB myself...was there since I was 9 until I was 18 (when I left for my studies here). I have always thought of it as a safe and peaceful place, compared to larger cities such as KL etc. Or maybe the place I used to stay in is in the suburban area in Johor, hence it has always given me the small town feeling where everything is idyllic and nothing bad ever happened. And nothing bad has ever happened before in my neighborhood, except the occasional robberies which I think would occur anywhere else in the world as well.

I do not know the situation there now, because it has been 2 years since I went back home. When I read this news I was kinda shocked because City Square used to be one of my fave haunts when I was still living in JB and I have never witnessed any sort of this kinda incidents happening there before even though I have been there lots of times.

I think one thing that can be done is to make sure you do not attract attention of the robbers and not wearing anything valuable (jewelry pieces, etc)...and maybe it is also wise if you can get a local to be with you during your trip there. Or even better "disguise" yourself as one of the locals there, if can try to speak their slangs or language... Mr. Green

Singaporeans are not only robbed inside JB but also robbed inside over Spore too … caused these JB ppl also robbed us of our jobs over here….
