Any MP or Ministers living in HDB flats?

Looks like some ppl haven't been reading the papers. Laughing There were WP members like Sylvia Lim living in landed property. Likewise several of the PAP New Faces were clearly indicated to live in HDB.

Either way, it really makes no difference where the MPs live or not- what matters is where the MINISTER lives. And you can count on an amputee's hand how many do.

I recall that at least three of the recently introduced WP candidates, including chairperson Sylvia Lim, live in condominiums.

But seriously, I don't think it's important whether candidates or MPs or ministers live in HDB or private property. What matters is the heart. One can live in a HDB flat and yet not be aware of his neighbours, while another can live on a private estate and yet be connected to the heartlands.

Ah... let me see if my maths is correct. ST says Election Deposit of $13,500 represents 8% of allowance paid to MP (I suppose all MP, opposition or ruiling gets the same). So that means, a total of around $168,750 (ST says 13.5K got rounding....)

That means...average of 14K per month (12 months) [Press calculator, sure correct]

Just lifted off ST, no way to cross check.

This is exactly what I think too.

MPs who come with a rich background,
the CEOs and those big time directors,
they will never ever understand the
problems of the ordinary people.

I have attended their meet the people sessions,
and I can swear
many of our complaints never reach to the top-
unless they fit into the big bosses' agendas.

So please dont talk to me about well educated, first class degree, MPs. PUI !

I think any MP will be richer by about $850K (assume 5 year term and rounding up quite a bit for easy typing) at the end of his term. So har, if I am elected (not that I am running....I am actually sitting down), I also will move to a nicer house lah.

Anyway, what has housing type got to do with the type of people that is MP. If bad apple, give postage stamp money also bad. But if good apple, give lots of money also will not turn bad.... that is call integrity and character.

I also share you fustration. Never know whether complain ever going anywhere, all I see is no action. Not sure if other people also complain the same thing hor.... maybe complain to opposition better? I not sure, opposition also never do anything. You hear they say hide candidates to irk PAP.... don;t know what strategy is that, also confuse me.... don't know who to complain to.

I prefer my MP to also be a heartlander as he can relate to the residents' problems and aspirations. Otherwise, the MP will only be like a tourist relying only on the grassroot leaders for feedback which may at times be at best only partly reliable. A perfect GRC imo should comprise of 2 elitists and 3 heartlanders (all 5 local born Singaporeans).

Come on, for me - a taxi driver will make the best MP.

Taxi drivers hear and understand heartlanders' heartaches and struggles more than the highly qualified and superflyer PAP MPs!
