The show started out prim and proper until it started to sound and feel like a debate when the emotions of the young ones escalated. Some of them were trying to get more 'air-time' Not all, but some, look more interested in getting their faces on TV debating with MM Lee than the original intent of the show.

I think MM Lee started to dominate the discussions after they were shooting him from left, right and center. And that came across as arrogant, rude, dismissive and what have you.

Anyway, i'm on the youth side! I just thought it would be a more productive show if there were lesser but more qualified youths on our side. They don't even look united to me.

i do not mean each person.. i mean he owes his country..

and the youth represent the future of his country.. the country.. OUR country..

if he is dismissive and looks at them with contempt, treats them with derision and puts them down without listening to their worries, he's lost his right to lead, he's forgotten what it means to be a normal citizen..

by the way, as a "democracy", the youths were doing the right thing.. and that is to take their politicians, their leaders, the people in power, to task... that is the duty and responsibility of the citizenry of a mature people...

besides, everyone knows... if the leaders are not taken to task, TT Durai and NKF happens Laughing

at my workplace, when my officers are right, and the member of the public is wrong but still very buey kam guan.... they will make a complaint...

guess what?

"your officer very rude"

when they fail in trying to be right with the facts, they will resort to personal attacks like that..

"were the young rude to MM?" or... "you young whippersnappers very rude"

But i think MM was trying to soft sell his idea. And when it didn't work, he tried to hard sell them...don't think there was any menace meant like the above.

maybe lau lee thinks he can because he:

a) has become divorced from reality
b) thinks he's better than anyone else
c) thinks he's earned that right coz he's "the founding father"
d) thinks he's right no matter how right or wrong he is
e) all of the above

yesterday my supervisor n colleagues were discussing bout it. they find the young quite rude n disrespect to gahman. i told them dat gahman also nvr gave them freedom to speak. but they gave me tis, "MM is a leader afterall n he has the right to make his speech clear. i believe no workers will try to talk rudely to their boss."

That is not rudeness.Rudeness comes when you attack the person and his style, not his message.

Many bosses cannot differentiate between employee frankness and employee sarcasm.It's simply pathetic.

If one's talking about MM being the boss and we the workers, again, same point as said earlier.

Being the boss doesn't imply you get to rule over workers' heads and overrule everything else they say/simply brush it off.

But then again, that's my opinion with regards to the casino issue. Laughing

Maybe we just have to acknowledge the "idea" that "I'm higher rank than you and therefore I 0wn u!"

In a civil society, people will accrue due respect to their leaders naturally of their own volition and not be coerced into blind submision to authority or false obeisance.

he thinks he is always right. he is trying to beat the youths with his tact as a cross-examiner and he also gave me an impression he is trying to instill fear.

remember what he said about his grandchildren crossing the line?

why have the dialogue in the first place if the youths are afraid of offending him? they are not there to kiss his ass i am sure.
