If you've noticed, the average age of PAP 'New faces' is between 35-40

The average age for oppposition MPs is much lower, between 32-35. Again, this figure is skewed because SDA is the only other party besides WP that have revealed their candidates.

But generally, a quick glance is that the PAP new faces are either:

1. senior consultants
2. CFOs or CEOs of GLC subsidaries
3. Professional voluteers
4. Lawyers and doctors
5. civil servants

while the opposition new faces are generally:

1. lecturers
2. private businessmen
3. start-up owners

Basically, the difference is obvious. The need for a strong track record in both academic and working fields override youthful exuberance in the ranks of the new generation of PAP, a 'winning' concept so they claim.

Let's see which style appeals more during elections. The huge 1-page articles dedicated to the PAP by the self-declared 'impartial' Straits Times only offers a lopsided view of the candidates.

the AP's candidates are more reflective of the Majority of Singapore. And they are equally, if not more eloquent in matters affecting the heartland than the PAP's.

Municipal issues are drawn from national policy, what is needed is a balance of people who can craft national policies with a bottoms up approach and be also able to push it ahead in the international arena, which is what th civil service is for.

MPs, well, first and foremost, they are the people's eyes and ears. I'd take a full-time AP MP over a CEO PAP MP who might not be willing to serve the people full-time.

Nuff said.It's painfully simple and obvious.The spirit of governance and representation has got to change.

Instead of asking "why PAP have so many new MP candidates ?" - perhaps the more appropriate question should have been :

"Why the PAP left out MM LKY in the renewal process ?"

How did MM LKY managed to count himself out of the renewal process, when younger and current MPs such as David Lim and Augustine Tan are asked to move aside ?

Have you ever thought why these new candidates joined the PAP, instead of the opposition? Most probably they want to win at first try in the GE. As WP chief Low Thia Kiang had said, "My conviction is that politics is a process, you come in for a long haul & don't expect instant success, especially in the opposition. If first-timers want to win at first try, they should join the PAP & stand in a Group Representation Constituency." The new PAP candidates prefer to stick with the tried & tested method. They wouldn't want to risk by taking a ride on the wild side. Time will tell if they are of service & credible to the Singaporeans. I wish that they'll help stop the PAP government from implementing any more stupid policies. What the PAP government thinks that whatever they did is for the good of Singaporeans, might not be necessarily be good for Singaporeans. Please, do not try to be a smart aleck & implement all kinds of arrangements & policies without asking the people for their opinions first.
