They should hold a “confidence” vote in a walkover GRC. That’s the only way to gauge and show how much support they really have, rather than think just because there’s no competition that means everyone likes me.

Agree with you. Even in a walkover, residents in that consitutuency should still get to vote just like in the Thai system. Have two ballot boxes with one marked as "NO VOTE" and the other as "*** Party" where *** is the name of the party. Only then can we gauge the % of support for the party.

Got Elected President meh? As far as I can recall there was only one election and even then, only people deemed "worthy" by a "select" committee are allowed to compete.

My view is no body elects doesn't mean that they really support the ruling party or the oppostion parties. It is because people feel that they are left with no choice. Elections walk over really can't determine mandate of any parties.
