Cars parked outside mosque on Friday

I understand that fridays are the time for muslims to go about their religious obligations. However the string of cars parked outside mosques are causing inconvinience to other road users. Sometimes even accidents and near misses.

HDB carparks are plentiful in most of these estates. Church goes and people of other religions also use HDB carparks during their masses and services. Even temple activities.

What is the general opinion on this issue?

The problem is not unique to mosques. One church in Siglap area also had similar woes on Sundays.

Yes, I notice this too.

But Church goers at certain churches also park indescriminately causing traffic congestions. Not to mention similar parking (or waiting) habits at certain "high class" schools.

But, it is all about TOLERANCE. We just have to tolerate. Until our government says otherwise.

The illegal parking can get really scary at some mosques, especially those along the main roads. Luckily this is usually confined to the afternoons, off-peak hours.

let's phrase it other ways, the problem is not just mosque on friday, church and temple on sunday.

pple park their cars illegally so that they can queue up to buy toto and 4D; eating at chiong chiong.

there will be problems regarding parking of cars and traffic jam, let's just blame it on number of cars increase and less parking lots.

It comes down to responsibility and proper road habits.

People used to rush for parking slots in the past unti they realised that bad things might happen to the paint of their car if they persist in such bad habits Shocked

One bad habit cancelled out the other.

Now people are still indulging in other bad road habits, like blocking a lane or traffic by parking indiscriminately for church service, friday prayer, while waiting for their children, etc.

There are many other bad driving habits that occur everyday but its going to take a lot of time to teach and phase out all these bad habits.

Motorists (including myself) must constantly themselves to not indulge in those bad habits, other motorists must politely inform offending motorists of their transgressions. TP has been very active in promoting safe driving habits and polite road behaviour too.

the mosque beside my camp, on Friday sure will have cars parked inside the bus-stop bay and outside the gate of one of the camp entrances. Confused

Allah is everything, especially he rewards "muhajis" with beautiful virgins as long gentiles are marginalised. If my god gives me beautiful virgins, I will break any man-made rules. On a lighter note, our urban planning fails to take in account that places of worship attract a big crowd.

in other words, people are just inconsiderate or worse, trying to save a the money for a few parking coupons. its ironic though, that people who are going for religious should show the same ugly traits as those who go indulge in the sin of gambling or gluttony. Laughing

our urban planning did a great job. there are plenty of HDB carparks around but they choose to park on the double yellow line.

First of all, I think its ok to park along roads just once a week cos so many muslim congregate on mosques at one go. Not all mosques are near multi storey car parks.

But for those mosques that are near multi storey carparks, worshipers shld try to park there if there are enough lots and then take a walk to the mosque.

for me, it is just one day in a week, and just for that few hours, just forget it.
if you know of a mosque nearby, just slow down a bit, and be careful lor.

looking at other countries like Iraq and etc, we have a nice place, a nice country. let's not argue over such small issues.

I do agree that some people are just inconsiderate in their parking. I’m catholic myself, and when I go to church on Sundays, some people just park wherever they like to, causing inconvenience to the residents around the area. If anyone has been in anyway been in this situation, as a christian/catholic, I offer my apologies.

whether you go church, mosque, temple, school, buy TOTO/4D, marketing, etc

threads like this popup because we all drive CARS (or any big fat wheels), and all the HDB carparks that are build (and overbuilt) will never be utilized for such occasions. except for afternoon naps during lunch breaks.

do you all think LTA/HDB will re-think their design of parking space allotment and layout plans to fit the ergonomics of the driver?
