casefan SG You must be living in a nutshell. Time for you to look beyond the confines of the shell you're in.
king108 SG Refer to your reply on fellows will4 statement: I believed that you are right, he must be a high wage foreigner talent. We needed not to worry that he is not one of us because he does not serve the army. Can make him to contribute to our nation by paying poll tax or employment fee of $3000 per month will do. From the funding of the foreigner talent's tax or fee, we will help to care for our needed people here. We thank them for their contribution. Cheers.
king108 SG For your information, all served NS will be stopped at the Causeway and or Changi Airport when there is a real recall. International passport also no use. (They may be detained or prosecuted, I wouldn't wanted to speculate) Hence, it's does not matter so much as long as you are a singaporean, cause you are likely to be called back to unit. Unfortunately, such rules does not apply to foreigner migrant even when they become singaporean. Hence, they are still free to run because they will not be recalled for defence. We welcome highly waged foreigner talent, we also wanted them to contribute to the progess of our nation. We would like them to lead infront by example when the need arises.
boyish love SG FT or local no different. SG value meritocracy more than local born. Human resource is our only strength. Thats why you see how hard the ruling party have more than anything built SG as very safe place to work in. You have no talent then sorry. You are free to find a place more suitable for you.
sgdiehard SG same old problem again, don't want to serve NS, scared kenna call back to fight while others got chance to fly away. If your dedication to defend the country where you were born depend some new immigrants, than the brand "local born" has no value at all. If the need arises, you want the foreigners to lead and set example?? no wonders the FT are "infront".
casefan SG Quote: "We would like them to lead infront by example when the need arises." Not likely. By then they would have chabut somewhere else or back to where they come from. I wouldn't bet I can depend on them.
sgdiehard SG Read those threads on why Singaporeans are migrating. I don't assume, many speak for themselves. Some singaporeans are migrating because "the going gets tough here", while some FT are settling down. When the going gets tough enough for the immigrant singaporeans to run, many "local born" singaporeans would have long gone already.
sgdiehard SG I was not born in singapore. where I came from is none of your business. I supposed I was an FT here before I got my citizenship. I completed full time NS and still doing my reservists. I pay above average personal income tax. The going can be better for me in some countries, depending on what I want for my family, give and take a little and I have decided not to migrate!! qualified to talk?? prepared to take up this issue during the election??
will4 SG Speaking about the local level, the newspaper had published an article about Chinese national n Indian national working as scientist in America, they were granted visa to work. This led to many American being unhappy with the govt.
casefan SG Still wouldn't reveal where you came from? Ashamed aren't you? Not surprising to me. Still, I wouldn't trust someone like you with my welfare as much as I would trust a son of the soil. You have forsaken your country of birth, what's there to stop you from forsaking Singapore. The truth is, you're here to milk the system.
LazerLordz SG Unlike migrants to America, where some even sign up with the Army and strongly encourage their kids to do so, especially the Koreans and Laotians. Anyway, unless you are a citizen of another country, you'd be stopped by ICA.
LazerLordz SG Hey, I find your last sentence offensive. This is a GLOBALISING world, borders are shrinking. So you find third culture kids on the same level as people who jump ship eh?And I suppose you spit on people who work and live around the world, having the ability to migrate around in search for their dreams? The man has served his NS, give him some respect alright. We may not agree with his views now and then, but he's done his time and that should be respected.
king108 SG I been thinking why and what are the possibilities for this great man to have served our NS and became a Singaporean. It's great that he is loyal to our nation. His background is still a misery, just like PAP asking the non-ruling parties. I only know that he could be a 1st generation migrant here and that all. Question 1: Did he studied here? Had he taken our grant during his studies or given any kind of scholarship. (If any of the above, the answer could be crystal clear)
sgdiehard SG If you read my postings earlier you would know where I came from. there is nothing to be ashamed of. I did not forsake my country of birth, I made my choice, just like those local born singaporean who chose to migrate to better places DURING PEACE TIME. Me milking the system? the system certainly does not include nuts like you, have you started paying income tax???
sgdiehard SG why are you interested in my background? The PAP or the opposition parties will reveal my background if I were to run for election for them. I have taken scholorship in singapore, which was offered to all singaporeans who have a reasonable A level results and completed NS. So what is clear to you?? keep guessing.
sgdiehard SG now can stand for election or not? if I stand for opposition would you vote for opposition or ended up voting for PAP again, for the few hundred dollars?
