Yup, 28-300 will just about cover everything from you holiday
wide-angle landscape shots to your close up subjects like sports
action or aircraft (my forte).
As for whether its suitable for the EOS 500N, you'll have to check.
If its made by Canon, it will most probably be suitable, but if it
comes from 3rd-party lens manufacturers like Tokina, Tamron or
Sigma, you'll have to check which mount its for as most SLR camera
brands have their own mounts (These 3rd party guys manufacture
lenses for the mounts most camera brands). Ask the seller or sales
assistant at the shop if its suitable for your camera.
If its manufactured by camera companies like Nikon, Pentax etc,
then its most likely not suited for your Canon.
