Internet is one of man's greatest inventions.
It is both a private communication tool and yet it is accessible to
anyone who wishes to communicate thereby likely to be construed as
public.
It affords the citizens a means to communicate with all other
citizens without any intention to mass-circulate like the
newspapers or tv. It is so convenient of usage that it has become
prevalent and there is no way any government can ban it or stop its
widespread use for good or evil. So for this reason pornography on
internet is difficult of prosecution. There is also the issue of
internationality where nets cannot really be regarded in resident
in any particular territory. Many local sites are hyperlinked to
others which are foreign.
So because it is both private and publicly accessible, wrongfulness
on net may be more difficult to stop unless government wants to
ride roughshod over particular citizens or do so by way of
gerrymandering like in the past in passing of certain laws for
political purpose. Government therefore will have to change their
policies towards freedoms of expressions etc. in the age of
internet communications among citizens becoming possible for both
private and public communication purpose.
It will be illogical and irrational to stop people from
communicating with one another through internet website, forums,
email or blogs just because of certain exposure to
wrongfulness.
Just try to answer this question : does the government need to stop
the citizens' internationally convenient communication tool both of
private and public characteristics just to go after a few
wrongdoers or a few crimes?
Another question to ask: should people who commits any wrongs on
internet be prosecuted to the same extent as crimes committed in
openness or mass media or other public places.

(Reply to Robertteh by Feral Cat at CNA on 28.10.2005} If you
seem to questioned and have so much doubt about where the internet
will lead mankind to....you can ALWAYS MAROON YOURSELF ON A ISLAND
without outside interference or modern civilisation advancement to
trouble you !
But then again if you were to do so, I doubt you will be able to
post your threads and comments on CNA forum web site!

{Robertteh}The goodness of internet is presumed by you in your
statement. If it is full of goodness, then why start all the
actions on bloggers to pave the way to extend control on the
internet.
Is there a proper study on differences between internet medium and
newspaper or other mass media. Citizens have the right to ask
question and not to be asked to be marooned on any island to allow
control freaks to predominate to the next century with all kinds of
gerrymandering. What is wrong will always be wrong like the NKF. It
is of no use trying to justify wrongs.
