With elections coming up, which party better reflects your
political views? Apart from givernment policies and the WP
manifesto, we haven't heard much from other parties.
Here's my list of issues and the party that supports my view most
closely. Perhaps drawing up such a list will help us make up our
mind:
De-link upgrading projects with electoral choice (Opposition)
Greater corporate transparency: Temasek Holdings to declare
investments (Opposition)
Allow defence lawyers during police interrogation of suspects, even
during the investigation stages (Opposition)
Stricter rules on the use of the Internal Security Act
(Opposition)
Greater government spending in healthcare (Opposition)
Reserve low-skill jobs at the Integrated Resort for Singaporeans
(??Opposition)
Racial quota in state schools to preserve racial harmony (??)
Reduced defence spending to pay for education and healthcare
(??)
Prohibit public appointments that may present a conflict of
interests (eg. Ho Ching heading Temasek Holdings and her husband
being Finance Minister as ultimate regulator) [?? Opposition]
Stringent laws aganist NS dodgers (PAP)
Retain the death penalty (PAP)
Racial quota for HDB and MPs in electoral constituency to maintain
racial harmony (PAP)
Upgrade skills of the workforce by re-training and recruit the best
foreign talent to spearhead growth industries (PAP)
