LKY definitely has a very influential say in the country's main
affairs still. Even if he does not participate actively, the top
guns in the PAP are all his henchmen. He may not directly govern
the country, but certain core policies like GRC, anti-welfarism,
bilingual policy cannot be changed without his consent. Because
many of SG main policies are outlined when he was still PM, and any
challange to them would undemine his political credibilty. He will
definitely hold on to power in PAP. LKY will never leave SG
politics till the very day he passes on.
Whether LHL is the best man for the job, it is debatable. He is
certainly able, bue he has plenty of experienced ministers and Old
guard members to prop him up also. I just feel its kind of
unethical that LHL is PM when he entered politics via walkover
elections. Am I wrong to say LHL has never been challaged directly
in this ward before?
