I think it is alrite to spend so much to defence. Most of the ppls previous said stuffs, I'm not going to repeat again......but, there is one clear advantage that all of u all have left one. Singapore spends lots of money mainly into R&D which in turn help to reap lots of profits.

For example, ST made SARS detection kit and makes thermo-imaging devices to check the body temperature during the crisis.

Next, it is the weapons made locally tat is sold abroad. Eventhough Singapore may never compete with US when it comes to weapon sophistication nor Russian for bargain price weapons.....Singapore have carve out it's own niche.
I think they are gearing themselves to become specialize in SE Asia weapon requirement.These are some examples.

Indonesia:

FH-88 artillery
CIS 40mm auto grenade launcher
AMX-13 upgrades

Thailand:
SAR-80
M16S1
45m patrol vessels

Philippines:

Back to the defense budget, is it so expensive to run SAF?

Personally, I think Singapore should upgrade her naval and air capabilities, eg. installation of long range missiles and more powerful destroyers and submarines. At the same time, the commando unit should be expanded.

If I'm the minister for Defence, I would acquire Nuclear weapon for our defence. Instead of wasting so much tax payers' money on small things and change and change after when the weapons are outdated. Don't you think that I'm more brilliant than the ministers. As I have also mentioned about the space tour programme earlier. Now, singapore is moving on to have a spaceport. So I can foresee better than any of our ministers here. Do you guys think that our ministers are worth multi-millions dollars salaries? Compare to my pathetic salary,......where I always face with MONEY NOT ENOUGH!!!!!! Mr. Green

In this case, we should promote homosexual brothel, and make it the world FIRST Gay Brothel!!! (See if I am your Gov, I can create more opportunities for Singaporeans with practicallity and immediate effect).

Gays will be encouraged to change sex and work in our legalised brothel which then will be under NTUC. No $$$ to change sex?....No problem...they can apply for 100% loan with 70% subsidary from SDF. Upon sex change surgery is done; that person will have to sign a bond with our legalised brothel for 1 year, simple and fair.

Our planning for the 6 stars World Class Gays' brothel will have 500 rooms (contingency to allow for 1500 rooms in future expansion) which form an integration with Hotels, Casinos and Amusement Centre. The business are expected to generate an avenue S$8888 millions yearly for our country.

The best of all, our legal brothel will have a 24hrs clinics in the brothel and customers are to report to the clinic before they get into the rooms for...... and these requirements are mandatory. The clinic's doctors will have to check the customers'.......... and subsequently provide advice on safe s...x. In addition, the clinic will have medicines for enhancement of.... you know, you know?........ blar... blar.. blar. Of course, customers will have to pay for the extra service and GST.

Why this proposal was not debated in Parliament??? Well....guys, we are all mature people and this kind of business are all over the corners in every parts of the world!!! So our Gov deemed that is necessarily for fierce competitions with our neighborhood countries.

We haven't got enough Singaporeans entrepreneurs...(as claimed by our elite gov) so don't you guys think that I am most brilliant guy and hopefully I will become multi-trillionaire in near future. Then...I will hold a World Trades Conference with LKY, Bush, Madawee, Billgate, Stanley Ho, Ooi Hong Leong and many worlds' top leaders to discuss on expanding of Singapore further with Super Space age programme and Universe tour in space and other planets.

Why would you want to promote the arms race and equip your aggressors?
That's the last thing we should do.

Our 700,000 armed forces is as good as useless defensively when our aggressors have amassed enough missiles and firearms to threaten us.

Instead of nurturing a 700,000 part-time armed force, we should just amass enough missiles and point them at any aggressors who threaten us.

See what China is doing to Taiwan. Even Taiwan's XXX,XXX armed forces is peanuts to China's 800 missiles.

We sell them only small arms and these actually helped stabilised the region when the armed forces of these nations fought seperatists in their countries.
Any wonder how peace was won in Acheh once our U100 and CIS 40mm were licensed in Indonesia? They became so effective in rooting out those seperatists with their greater and more accurate fire power that they never had before.

The small arms are not a threat to us, we have even better weapons that we don't sell to them.
