If there is water shortage in Singapore, then why is our government not insisting on having dual flushing mechanism toilet bowl for all Singapore household?

Assuming if we could save 2.5L of water per flush and with a 4.5m polutation that will give you around 11.25 million litres for a single flush. So how many times do you flush your toilet everyday? do your math.

If the government is not putting in any effort to save water then why should we pay for Water Conservation Tax?

I have double flush…... I also try to encourage sequential peeing….. meeing. If I am peeing after my sons, I tell them not to flush…..

I think cost is a secondary issue here plus I dont believe it is going to cost more than the water you save.

The recent new HDB flats that I have visited doesnt come with dual flushing system and the other upgraded HDB doesnt come with one either.

The reason why commercial building are doing this is because the landlord are paying for the water bill.

Besides theres no point of installing the 1/2 flush system if no one uses it right? Sometimes after doing my business, if i need to clean the toilet bowl properly, I tend to hold down the flush button.

alternative = use a bucket to collect water n when after pee, jus use a container to pour water to clear the urine away. like tat safe even more water

If you are just taking a piss, why do you need so much water? furthermore if you are paying you own bill, I dont see any reason why you wont want to save on water consumption.

I am not sure about the cost, but all i can say is that it is just a mechanical device and I shouldnt cost alot if our government would to make them or buy them in huge quantity.

Put some stones (contain it in a plastic bottle) into the canister above. This will reduce the volume of water per flush. Another way of conservation… on ur bill

There is actually a adjustable screw in there which you can use to set the volume of flush. I think most people would prefer to have 2 setting instead of one.

I suggest we take a queue number to pu in the morning and flush only after every third person to save water.

Minor? water has always been an issue when it come to Sin-My negotiation. If Singapore government is willing to pump in so much money to convert Singapore river and marina bay into a catchment area, I would have reason to believe that this is a BIG issue for the future of this country.
