If Mahathir had stayed on another twenty years - like our MM LKY
- he would have gotten rid of the Malaysian Royal Families, and
made Malaysia into a Republic.
To his eternal credit, he brought the excesses of the Royal
Families under control, by imposing a strict self-governing Royal
disciplining structure; and at the same time allowed legal actions
to be taken against the Royal Families by the Public on matters
involving criminal acts.
The change from Royalty to Republics had happened in Iran, when the
Shah was deposed, and replaced by the Council of Ayatollahs, making
Iran into a Republic.
It not only happened in the Afro-Middle Eastern Countries, but also
with the deposing of older Royal Families in France, Germany,
Austria, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Russia and its sattelite
republics.
