the quota system actually force people to mix together, not willingly. malays are generally community-minded and the chinese arent.

btw, can i infer that among other things, you're NOT against gender discrimination according to your definition. i wonder why in that case you would bring up status of women in some other foreign society, if you're not really against that idea.

how about preaching no culture is also superior than another? and along the same line, no sets of values "better" or more "appropriate" than others. that isn't subsumed by your definition i believe?

I am not aware of any that have been prevented from promotion by reason of race. There is elitism of the privileged class...yes, but they come from all races.

The reality is that without the quota ruling, over time there will be racial enclaves. This will in turn lead to all sorts of racially motivated problems.

could someone please explain why we have ethnic segregation among schools here in singaapore? i do not recall seeing any students for example river valley high school hanging out with malay or indian students. and the same for the indian schools that have been created such as the bhavan international or the madarasahs for the muslim students. dont see any of the students from those schools either hanging out with chinese students. we contradict by having HDB ethnic quotas and on the other hand we have all this ethnic schools all over the place. what sort of message are we exactly sending to our children?

Chinese schools have been well-known for creating the intrinsic mentality of Chinese Chauvanism. Likewise, the same applies to any racial issue: each race tends to stick to their own.

It's human nature. The aim of ethnic integration is to breed racial tolerance among us, with the long term goal of racial ACCEPTANCE.

Who should we blame for ethnic segregation? The students themselves or the schools? Should the schools be responsible for such discrimination if the students themselves prefer to align with other students of their race and reject integration?

Alternatively, you should ask youself: Is it normal for an Indian student to feel ostracised while hanging out with a group of chinese friends? or vice versa?
