Bus fare cheats go jail, The rich cheats pays only fine

Singapore is known for its tough laws. Under a proposed legislation, bus fares cheats where total amount may not add up to $100 goes to jail for cheating the bus company. On the other hand, the rich who cheats the public investors of hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars pay only fines. Do you think this is double standard?

there’s a difference ok, bus fare cheats are cheating the bus company which means the rich people are the ones cheated, when rich people like durai cheat, its the poor people getting cheated

Since there has not been a single case so far on bus fare cheater being sent to jail, I should not state my comment.

For your info, the three examples you have quoted involved insider trading. And the penalities for any person contravenes this act is a fine or a jail term or both. Similar to any other offences. Neutral

Thanks for the clarification.

The Law for insider trading was created to protect the public, but the bus fare cheat legislation is enacted to protect the governments profit.

If the law serves jail time for bus fare cheats but not corporates cheats, you can be sure there will be rebellion among the people.

Aren't bus operators eating as well?

Students buy concession pass yet SBS deploys NAC buses, sad is that there is only aircon stamps available today

I see SBS extra collects abt $1M - $2M from students and NSmen that buy monthly passes.. Worst, students arrives late for class sweating and stinking as SBS makes sure the NAC buses are overloaded

Yet we still see other bus svs with 2-3 empty aircon double decks arriving together... Students subsidising SBS for the 'unprofitable' rts?
