According to Gavin Menzies, Zheng He found America first based
on very circumstancial evidence. However, its weird that 9 out of
10 Americans who posted their reviews in Amazon.com rubbished
Menzies's theroy without even explaning why. Mysteries such as
Columbus sailing to America with a map that already showed the
continent America. 
Of course, many Chinese are also excited about the fact that Zheng
He presumably found America in 1421. However, there is no surviving
written record that Zheng He and his armada of treasure fleets
rounded the Cape of Good Hope.
One thing is for sure, China is beginning to REGAIN, not achieve,
their superpower status that they once were during that era. With
an ever-growing economy, even the US has begun to seriously look at
the threat of China's growth. 
This time round, there
will be no turning back.
