Why temasek is hated regionally and globally?

Buying big companies overseas increases sg government's economic and political leverage over other countries. Nothing more, nothing less.

Temasek is despised by number of garmens not becasue its a Singapore investment company BUT because of the close links to the Lee family right from the CEO of Temasek to the CEO of Singtel. Foreign governments and their media are always quick to point out how Ho Ching is linked to the Prime Minister who is also the son of LKY.Foreigners see it as a family run organisation using Singaporeans money. The question is whether all this family related publicity doing Temasek any good or is it harming the company and its investment interest? Lets not even discuss transparency of GIC and Temasek.

whether temasek earns or lose nobody knows. moreover whatever they made we dont have a share.

I don’t think Temasek is hated, otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to have so many investments overseas.

Temasek is not hated. Their bonds are given an AAA rating by Moody's credit rating. Laughing

a smart goverment will look at whether an organisation is able to bring about economic growth for their country and won't be bothered whether who own them as long as they do thing according to their law.

if goverment hate this organisation or that organisation just becos they detest someone, who will suffer in the end? it the country that will suffer in the end cos simply put. you don't welcome me to do business in your country, there will always be ppl that welcome me.

Is Temasek "hated" for its business raids overseas - buying up the 'gem' companies in Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Korea, USA, UK, India, and Timbuctoo ?

"Hated" maybe too heavy and too strong a word that do not accurately reflect the emotions of the nationals of the countries that Temasek has targetted.

"Resentment" is more likely to accurately understand the emotional feelings against Temasek's aggressive forays in buying established companies.

Businessweek Report : Stalled in Singapore may offer an accurate assessment of the people whose country Temasek had raided.

wah lau if you are businessman will you choose to go for a gem company that already have a pretty big slice of the market with infrastructures and everything in place or will you go for a small ikan bili company that still need to pump in alot of money and fight with the big boys for a bigger market share? it take two hand to clap man. it not our fault to buy their national assets, they have the right to reject, but if they going to sell due to the temptation then it their fault isn't it?

what we want to gain from doing business? it profit it money, as long as there are opportunity out there that can earn more money who will say no? Mr. Green

of course the seller only cares about profit. but the citizens of a country see it differently. selling to another private company is unlike selling to temasek, which is actually the singapore govt.

if you bring in citizen view and feeling it mean you are mixing business with emotion and in business world sadly to say they don't come hand in hand.

well selling to who no one can control cos who can pay more of course sell to them lah. will you say no to higher profit? just becos the company is own by goverment and feel dissent abt it, i think that is pretty childish from a business point of view.

we got to realise that if it not Temasek that bought it, some other company will so why let ppl have such a good opportunity if we can have this opportunity to ourself right?

same thing with optus, when singtel bought over it, aussies start to protest, grumble etc, but two week into it no one even bother man. this is just a common passing phase.

at the end of the day, if they can provide a very competitive services to the ppl you see they will say no and go for other company?
