Who is Harry Lee?

Salman SG

A matter of personal choice i guess.

skeujin SG

mrs lee still calls him harry.... Neutral

Salman SG

You can call him Harry all you want too.

Gazelle SG

Someone from discovery must have done their research on this before they show in on TV. if you want to question this, i think you should not just speculate, but rather do your own research and proof them wrong.

Honestly lets now waste time on this. If you guys think the Malaypore or Malaypura (sounds like Malay Poorer Laughing ) is a better name, than in next life be a Malaysia Tenku loh...

Lets dont waste time, you cant rewrite history anyway...

Gazelle SG

majority of singaporeans were all the Ah Ti Ah Kow, and Singapore was colonized by British. The last thing you want is to have a British name to rally a crowd of chinese coolies towards independence.

Its is like calling yourself Osama and run for president of USA. Laughing

Cindyfeh SG

Explain more ?

Was he like nathan, a translator?

Salman SG

He wasn’t a colluder but he did work for Japs as a translator. He had to run mid way because the Japs thought he was a British spy. There was actually rumours that he was a British spy. This was never confirmed nor denied.

free thinker SG

Who else… He is none other than the infamous or famous Lee Kuan Yew who in the eyes of some western critics ruled Singapore with a somewhat dictatorial style form of government.

ndmmxiaomayi SG

It was written in his book. He was a translator.

geodome SG

Isn't Harry his unofficial name?

LKY comes from a generation whereby it is not common to have a Chinese to adopt an English name. Even now, there are such people. Alot of PRCs I know adopt an unofficial English name.

Darkness_hacker99 SG

Ya lor.

Lowclassman SG

Can I call him Hairy? Mr. Green

redstone SG

You can call him anything you like.... Mr. Green Laughing

You can even visit him at Oxley....

But careful... he's a man of power here... Twisted Evil
