this reminds me of the early years when people also just blamed drug abusers for the spread of AIDS. If u got AIDS, u automatically must have been a drug abuser. Now if u have AIDS, that must mean u have had a homosexual experience. This sort of attitude where u find a visible factor and keep pointing a finger at it, while ignoring other factors which may be as big or even bigger than the "blamed" factor, will NOT help stop the spread of AIDS. Its silly, its not helpful, and in the end it makes u look foolish without achieving anything.

Condoms arent 100% safe if you dont use them properly, eg using latex condoms with oil based lubricant, condoms breaking/slipping off etc.

If you do use them properly, they can prevent the spread of HIV.

This seems reminiscent of a rumor that was going on that the virus could actually pass through the latex condoms in the catholic community.It is only a rumor,however.

I do not agree that the transmission rates of HIV through anal sex are nessarily higher, why do so many gays have AIDS? It probably because in the first place,when HIV was yet to be discovered,it spread like wildfire in the gay community through unprocted sex.This led to more gays having HIV,which would obviously led to higher transmission rates if they had casual sex. I have no doubt that the same would be true if it had started in the heterosexual community, as regardless of orientation,there would be those who practise unproteced casual sex.

On another note,theres no such thing as "homosex",straights practise anal sex too.

AIDS spreads thru sexual contact from bodily fluids during sex, which enters thru membrane-like coverings on the skin of human genitals. Thus whether your arse bleeds or not during sex plays a very very minimal factor.

AIDS was believed to have spread from monkeys to humans in Africa, due to the close proximity of the human dwellings to the monkeys' natural habitats. just for your info, psychologists have already established that people who are homophobic are largely so because they are insecure about actually bein straight. in other words, deep inside they think they might be gay. I've never seen anyone who is comfortable and secure being straight have any problems with gay people. to quote an example, Winston Churchill, who is undoubtedly straight and damned macho at that, once had a homosexual liasion with musical comedy star Ivor Novello. While its is possible that humans might have gotten HIV through sex with apes,it is highly negligible.
