NKF should close down

last SG · 2005-12-20T21:19:26+00:00

The wounds that NKF has wrought will be hard to heal particularly in light of the damning KMPG report. The more things change, the more they remain the same....

meleagent SG

Yes, folding NKF might help in healing the wounds

SPH is just doing its job which is to report on what the citizens want to read.

dragg SG

i dont understand why sbst275 keep pointing finger at SPH.

sbst275 SG

No No No..

If you just fold it, can you garauntee that another such similar incident not going to happen? Already another charity is also have this prob now

What SPH is doing is now is a bit too much... Using the comic strip to make a mockery... I know they wanna take revenge, but pls, if you want to make reports, make it balance, if not, you are just seeking revenge

sbst275 SG

Look...

Health Minister has already called them to stop their pointing fingers... He has got irritated by it

And today's ZB made a comic strip on the Las Vagas thingy, if we want to move on and improve to prevent another similar issue to happen, be mature esp SPH, doing such comic strip is not going to help... Already Gerald Ee himself is trying his best to get things back to the correct way and they are doing this... Is it fair to the innocent party as in the kidney patients?

dragg SG

your thinking is the same as those who are still donating.

tell me. how does the present saga affect the kidney patients? the reserves are more than enough to last a few years. nkf keep using the patients as an excuse for singaporeans to move on. WHY?

all because they dont want to face the fact and do what is right. all they want is for things to go back to normal so they can continue to canvass for donations.

sbst275 SG

If you are going to have the thinking that the reserves can last for years, can... We are just going to stop donating, 1 yr aft 1 yr aft 1 yr aft 1 yr... Hoping the reserve to run dry...

Why are not fear of the word moving on? It is a plot by SPH to get all charities into trouble... You see all charity are having not enough donations aft the NKF saga.. Sooner or later, it is going to create a mess, that is irreversable

It is not ppl that they dun face the fact? So you are telling me the current NKF board were the jokers?

meleagent SG

That similar incident you are talking about is already happening right now in this country. I draw similar parallels to the way TT ran NKF and how the PAPpy is running sinkapore. Folding NKF sends out a signal. Prosecuting TT and the rest of the offenders will make those in higher office in the charities think twice before trying to play punk.
In what way is the reports not balanced? You cannot expect ordinary citizens to sift thru the 333 page KMPG report. Minister Cow himself have told the auditors not hide anything. As for the comic strip, well, its for comic relief, no sense getting work up over it

Spirit of Fire SG

For goodness sake, please stop whining!!! THE BUSINESS OF LIFE IS TO MOVE ON. No point complaining. It would be better if u've any good suggestions that'll improve the situation, or prevent such incident from happening again in the future.

dragg SG

it is up to you to believe what they reported.

how does it benefit SPH to get all the charities into trouble? and how do the nkf problems affect other charities?

recent charities received good donations too. without nkf there is still kdf. why should singaporeans continue to donate to nkf when they cant be trusted. it is obviously from the recent reportings that they arent really keen on getting to the root of the problem.

sbst275 SG

That comic strip... I am getting mad because it is placed in the middle of the NKF report pages. What are they trying to show?

Why are you throwing in the govt, PAP and all? If we throw all in, there will be no end

And I think the influence of media here has been too strong, that's why I pity Gerald Ee... Think he can just call it a day... No one here is helping him.. What your have been saying is what SPH has did...

If we cannot move on aft this saga and learn the lesson, I think we have failed. Because we are the ppl that is unwilling to see the mistake and improve and instead whole day saying such things

Unidentified SG

If NKF really close down , i wonder where our money go ???

dracky SG

Obviously MOH cannot be overseeing NKF because there is a conflict of interest. NKF take the load of treating kidney patients off the government. Without NKF, MOH will have major headache of building dialysis centres and subsidising poorer patients.

sbst275 SG

Well... You may never know what they want...

In fact, I did remember an article that SPH said Dr Vivian asked the charity to pull up their socks, which I did remember he said instead govt will help them if they are in trouble... It ended up Dr Vivian writing in... If SPH still have TVNews, this may not have happened

Even there is no NKF, there is KDF... That is kinda right... If I can remember, KDF, NKF and another kidney foundation met up onto possible cooperation...

meleagent SG

A plot? I see i see. If there is in indeed a plot, Medicorp wouldn't be showing affairs of the heart or the upcoming renci show.
NKF has 6-7 years of reserves. Not all charities has the additional buffer of having reserves. I don't understand why gerard is so intent on inculcating to us that without further donations, NKF might close shop. Why is that? 6-7 years is a bloody long time. Citizens should not be beholden to any charity. Particularly so peasants

dragg SG

even if we lose our jobs i am sure many of us dont have savings to last 6-7 years.

kns!!!

sbst275 SG

Stop bringing Ren Ci or Cancer Society into this...

Even if it is 6-7 years, that's a reality... In fact I am totally behind the merger of NKF and KDF

meleagent SG

My dear peasant, i brought up the 2 aforementioned charities to contradict your statement of a sinister plot by SPH to marginalise charities. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

yes a merger of NKF and KDF might suffice

sbst275 SG

No...

If you had read Dr Vivan's article you might understand...

Of course Ren Ci wun be targeted, dun ever forget they cooperated with MediaWorks
