Something i found off Wiki:
"However, the reality of the Singaporean political and economic
system is anything but meritocratic. The bulk of the Singaporean
economy comprises of Government Linked Companies, of which senior
members of the People's Action Party are routinely selected to
become directors and CEOs in a non-transparent fashion, rather than
focusing on other qualities that would determine merit, such as
experience in running large MNCs and other more impressive
credentials that other candidates may possess. The most famous and
oft-cited example of Singapore's alleged nepotism is that of
Temasek Holdings, Inc. the managing director of which the
daughter-in-law of Singapore's founding father, Lee Kuan Yew, Ho
Ching, became when there was no shortage of other, better qualified
candidates."

So what form of governance are we practising exactly? It seems that
"meritocracy" is just nepotism in a sheep's skin.
