Well it seems that you know better, so then you should get into
politics...

Are you blind? Singapore has progressed... just take a good look
around you, and please, don't give me any of that we should be a
more enlightened bs... it does not work in Singapore! Face it. You
wanna have it bad so that Singapore can progress "morally" as a
nation? kekeke. My question to you is this, has our supposed
"conservatism" killed our country? I don't think so.
Look at the world, being "only" around for 40 years, we have
achieved what took the whites hundreds of years to achieve... so
please!
Just because certain things aren't working so well, does it mean
that the government hasn't done a good job? The education system
has got nothing to do with the issue at hand.
It is simple really, we have laws, we warn people of our stringent
laws, even when you are approaching on the plane, you are warned...
and we have penalties for breaching those laws. You break them, you
pay. Yes clemency can be given, but it is an option olny and not
one that has to be followed. If you overturn this particular
decision, then from the worlds view point we have "caved in" to the
westerners... if we decided to grant clemency without foreign
intervention, that would be another matter altogether. The aussies
had three years to do something about it, why make so much noise
about it now...? If the guy really could have helped with any
investigations, should that information not be given by now?
There is of course some pride at stake as well, we cannot be seen
to be bowing down to another sovereign powers wishes.
