I have been to SDP website, hear his speech and i feel that he has meritable points on his comments and such. I don't really understand why singaporeans hate him so much. Even my father dislike him.

That being said, I am not a member of SDP atm and maybe not in the future and i will bet 1 mil dollars for anyone to challenge this claim.

I feel that his a little bit flamboyant at times but considering the fact that singaporeans r so apathetic they can’t even bother like the casino thingy, i feel that i need more than just that to change my opinion of him

i don't hate him, just dislike him.

His greatest fault is his behaviour. He should learn to control his emotions and learn to keep his cool. Maybe he needs an image consultant.

But i also find him very suspicious. Forever travelling overseas to attend workshops and seminars as though he doesn't need to work. And does he have to pay for all those travelling and workshops? Don't think they are all free. If he is paying on his own, then he must be quite rich. And is he a rich man? i doubt so.

He is funded by those who share his views, and in the same light, many aid groups are also overseas funded.

Anyway, the push for a global civil society is a trend that cannot be reversed.Only important thing is how it is applied correctly to each society so that we can all benefit.Some factions see that as coming close to Singapore bashing and it's not helped by CSJ's many overkill actions and over-the-top emotional outbursts.

But the man has guts.He could have left, but he chose to stay.Not exactly rich too.

It is important not to equate CSJ solely as the oppositon in S'pore. That seems to be what the outside media perceive him as.

To give credit where it is due, we do have creditable opposition figures.

CSJ is a crooked figure with an axe to grind with the govt.
He has lost his objectivity and integrity in the process and has lost credibility among Singaporeans.
I too asked him questions and he was disapointingly shifty, just like some of the forumners here.

The govt is great but not be perfect and I don't ever expect them to be.
One thing is for sure, never elect a crook into office. Never!

Anyway, i wonder why the SDP got hijacked by him. Why would anyone in the right mind associate with this guy and hope to do anything in Singapore?

What did I ask him? I aksed him about his funding and the blatant lies over the USD10 billion donation to Indonesia. He couldn't explain his behavior.

funding? whats wrong with how he got his money? why should you even care how he got his money in the first place? do you questions a person's behaviour by asking how much he got? why don't you go to every single member of the opposition parties ask how they got their money? so what even if his bankrupt and his rumored to live in a shophouse? if he refuses to give names, its only right because this invades his privacy. What if the PAP members decided to take action against those who fund him the money? what if telling the names of the people that fund him would harm public relations if they consist of foreigners?

We should be more concerned where our own money goes in terms of CPF and such, which our government till now has refused to reveal. I doubt things will change tho.

As for the Indonesia loan..hmm it would be an overboard statement if he doesn't have proof to back up his claim. I should probably ask him abt it

If memory serves me right, CSJ is ineligible to stand for the coming parlimentary election. So Salman, you don't have to worry about him running a constituency or having so-called meaningless debates in parliament.

As for his funding, the Political Donations Act will definitely apply on him and if there is any mispropriety on his part, MHA will be more than willing to sick their attacks dogs on him.

As for the supposed loan to Indonesia, well whos to say the loan did not take place.

I’m gonna attend his rallies if he manage to hold any in the upcoming General Elections (in the streets without a permit). He’s not charismatic as Lee Kuan Yew but I do not doubt his perserverence and guts. I wanna hear wad he has to say abt the govt this year..confirm mention abt the Australian kana hang and he’ll lecture the audience on human rights issues. He wrote a book too. It’s banned in S’pore right?
