Scholars may score aces but not undestand people problems

How many scholars have spoken up on people's high cost, unemployment or anti-business government policies, or voiced concern about our press control or class divisions ?

It will take many years for Singapore to produce candid, forthright and proactive leaders lead the country. Right now it seems that our leaders are only money-worshipping or caring only for their own career path and do not understand the people's needs and aspirations and not prepared to work for the benefits of the common people.

Will the scholars want to help us? The so called help will only help themselves.

For example, the new way to determine whether public transport fees will increase or decrease. Somehow, I don't think so. Assuming that Singapore's economy is improving at a constant rate, our transport fees will increase. Even if economy not improving, there is another factor which will increase the fare. Consumer something. That factor is very dependent on consumers. So unless consumer spends less, the fares will increase.

The problem with Robert is, he has never met a schorlar MP and talked to them and he doesn't know the poor in singapore nor how Singapore works.
MPs are not chosen based on academics. They were chosen based on track record and the ability to relate to the people.
I suggest he joins PAP for at least a year and understand how the party works.

"ability to relate to the people" in political terms means PR management; it does not mean empathy with the people or striving to understand the people's needs. PR is the art of making lies sound truthful.

"track record" is a very poor admission criteria. A person can be a manager with good PR skills and very limited knowledge and understanding and poor character.

You want to join PAP? You can, but you better be on the ball or they will kick you out after 1 year.

oh? Then kindly tell me what the PAP definition is - the real definition, not the one laced with their propaganda. I came up with the definition I gave you from what I read in the newspapers and in the forums, as well as what I gleaned from the Party's websites. Mine is an informed opinion, not a run-of-the-mill rumour.

Thats right, not many people want to work hard and pay the price. They like to sit around and complain like Robert Teh. Thats why what they say comes from a vacuum head with no reality.

Do you really think all these schorlars don't understand the people? They know it better than rich boy Robert because they meet these people all the time on a regular basis, unlike pseudo intellectuals like Robert Teh.
You want to help poor people, you have to consider many other factors that are not easily seen unless you get your hands dirty to solving the problems. You don't get your hands dirty by complaining.

Have you ever been to these PAP weekly meet the people sessions? I've been, and it would appear that they enjoy giving each other a pat on the back especially in front of the minister and then diss the opposition off.
