SINGAPORE : ComCare has disbursed some $8.7 million to help almost 13,700 low income households in its first three months of operation.

Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports Yu-Foo Yee Shoon gave these figures in Parliament on Monday.

The fund was launched on June 28 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to help Singaporeans facing hardship.

Through its various other funds, it also provides assistance for the unemployed to find work.

That equals $635 per household and $211 per month?? This funds is for who??

This statement is unhelpful. It merely says the total budget released to help the needy. It doesn't specify the distribution or in what form.

It certainly raises more questions such as how was the sum divided among the needy? Under what circumstances are families considered low-income? What benefits were provided? cash? or vouchers? and what kind? How beneficial was it? Do families have to apply to obtain this carrot? And are there assigned people to assist them to apply if necessary?

our govt do best controlling this and that. if they want to help the poor you think they wont come up with a system to control.

it is just an excuse not to help at all.
