alwaysdisturbed SG i was wonderin.. y did the ppl choose to put white elephants? wad does it signify?
Maurince SG thks for the elephants dat all the white horses & tigers wake up their idea in the parliment liao.. xie xie!!
FireIce SG u tink the white elephants relli pressured them meh another side of the story is.... they put the white elephants there make a big hooha then now declare to open....to show tt they do consider the ppl's suggestions......this is a "democratic" country.... blah blah blah.....
robertteh SG A Grass root leader actually put up the white elephant there. You are right on this possibility. Finally if no one dare to ask question or express unhappiness, the only way to show to outside world some democracy working is to get insider grassroot leader to put up some facade of democracy.
sbst275 SG Seriously speaking, it may not have anything to do with elections... Because even you have elections now, the station only starts operating in 8-10 weeks time But elections can be done within 7 - 8 weeks... Remember that Teck Whye Lane bus sv issue during the 2001 elections?
SnowFlag SG ( the station only starts operating in 8-10 weeks time ) = some delay + ( elections can be done within 7 - 8 weeks ) Know that our gahment very money-minded. Why would they want to open a money-losing station>
sbst275 SG Well, the train line loss has narrowed sharply, so whether opening or not, it does not make any huge losses to the operator Because now for SBS, bus svs are pulling them down
alwaysdisturbed SG its a long term 'investment' make us hapi for nw...so dat they can retain their positions...
pat33 SG You mean the 'white' elephants? I still think it is the coming election that moves mountains. If the PAP mountains refuse the move, no elephant - white, black, yellow , brown is going to do the trick.
LinYu SG so you mean we have to thank that bunch of *hits who can make SBS give in to the citizen request. i rather give the credits to the bunch of white elephants.
Manager433 SG The WHITE ELEPHANTS will go to National Library Board. Because I heard tat you can only borrow the books out at one lvl only?
