Everyone knows about racism. Most ppl know it's rude to call
Australians Aussie or Japanese Japs.
But no one seems to know that the word "Cheena" is very
insulting.
I come across so many chinese saying "I want to improve my English.
I dun want to be cheena". I want to laugh my head off. Cheena is
equivalent to calling other race Ah Neh, Mang Gah Li, or even
worse.
The word "Cheena" was used during WW II by the Japanese when they
mocked the defeated Chinese enemies. In today's context, it is used
by non-Chinese to insult or be rude to the Chinese. But the most
ridiculous thing is we all see Chinese using this term so freely
without knowing they are insulting their own race.
