pickup speed
hp
torque
ride
mod

I'm test drive the honda during the weekend, but still prefer my old galant.
Any comment ?

May i ask how old is yr galant? Anyway its 2l rite? you can't possibly compare the new 1.6 civic with your galant as the new civic is SOHC and not that powerful.

I'm currently driving an ES Civic 1.5(A). To me, its not powerful enough but on Sg road, its good enuff. However, the engine of the Civic is very smooth, you can actually feel it. Do you happen to realise that the 1.5 and 1.6 Civic is actually having abt the same amount of horsepower?

Me tried the Civic on the highway in M'sia. Well, all I can say my civic will be overtake by other bigger car easily, maybe cos its an auto.

In term of look, well Civic and Lancer are known to be having the highest 'mob-ility', heh........ esp Civic. My Civic had actually changed a few parts (like rims, fog light etc.) here and there and I'm actually quite happy with it.

its not because I'm driving a Vti and I gave my vote to the Civic. But long b4 I owed this car (just got it not long ago, and its a near 2 yr old baby), I already think that Vtec is one of the best engine ard. Therefore go for the Civic.

Never tested drive the corolla b4, but in term of look and mob, it can never beat Civic.

Ah Wei,
mine 10 years in few months time, more powerful but that was long time ago. I was think the vti and vvti newer should out perform mine 10yrs 2.0l auto.
I feel faster in the small Jazz which I tested too, maybe the small size make u feel faster with all the vibration and so on.
But at Leng Kee area speed limit, 2nd gear n reach limit.
So I was hoping someone can tell me those 0 ~100km data.
Do you know why the vti and vti-s have such a small gap between them 1590cc n 1668cc, even the torque dif is 0.5kg only. But price is 10k !

Hi again,

We'll 1st compare the 3 Honda Civic (ES) spec 1st:-

1.5 Vti (112 horsepower)
Auto 0-100km/h - 11.2 sec
Manual 0-100km/h - 10.2 sec

1.6 Vti (110 horsepower)
Auto 0-100km/h - 11.7 sec
Manual 0-100km/h - 10.2 sec

1.7 Vti (128 horsepower)
Auto 0-100km/h - 9.5 sec
Manual 0-100km/h - 8.6 sec

As you can see, the 1.7 Vti, though SOHC, the manual version is still quite fast, though u can't compare with SiR. And with accessories like sun-roof etc, I guess that's why they put the price 10k different from the 1.6. Anyway, the 1.6 and the 1.7 has a different of close to 20 horsepower, which is quite a hugh different, I mean, can actually feel it.

Like I mention b4, I don't understand why the 1.6 Vti is having slightly less horsepower than the 1.5, doesn't make sense.

As for the corolla Vvti 1.6, the spec are below, hope it helps you to choose your car better.
Horsepower - 108
Auto 0-100km/h - 11.7sec
Manual 0-100km/h - 10.3sec

All the figures above are what i know of, might be slightly different buy won't be much.

new civic has become more a family sedan and gentle than before. if you remember, the '96-'00 vti equipped wtih 1.5L 130hp engine. Exclamation new engine is no longer tuned for power but low emission. LEV is the trend now.

by the way, does anybody know where the new 1.6L vit made in? Is it made in Thailand, just like to new accord 2.4L? Question
