Correction: Taxis are not a NUISANCE on our roads. They are however, a MENACE, and an ACCIDENT going to happen.

I'd implore the proper authorities, look into Taxi companies who allow mad men to drive their cabs.

These are prevailing traits of Taxi drivers from all Taxi companies:

*** >> changing lanes or turning without signaling
** >> cutting into other motorists lane
*** >> pulling over to pick up passenger without hazard lights, or turning on
their hazard lights after they've made the sudden stop
** >> speeding above 120Kmh on expressways
* >> tailgating or driving around with high-beam on at night
*** >> not giving way at Yellow Box Junctions
** >> bullish behavior while driving

I believe the Traffice Police always close one eye for them compared to normal vehicles. I see so many taxis breaking rules on the roads all the time. They dun treasure their lives, but I treasure mine.

Earning a living is not an excuse to flout traffic regulations. I am in sales, and I drive around Singapore to meet clients for a living, does that give me the right to flout traffic rules?

It seems that you are very defensive of the taxi drivers attitude. Then howabout bus drivers, lorry drivers and container trailer drivers? A lot of road users are making a living.

Yes, but a taxi-driver's income is much more closely tied to how fast he can get across town or make that u turn to catch the passenger, competing with all the other taxis on the road in off-peak periods. Combine this with long hours, high overheads and low fares and you'll find taxi-drivers have a much higher incentive to flout road laws than other drivers.
As for sales, your income should be primarily derived by how well you sell your product or service rather than how quickly you get to the destination.

A lot of luck is needed as well to get good fares and the right passengers. Imagine ferrying a person who has no money or a commuter out ot rob you.

Cab drivers can narrow down this uncertainty by isolating taxi stands with consistent crowds around SG. When all else fails, they can rely on these hot spots to confirm a passenger, then plan their monthly income accordingly.

Speeding around isn't necessarily going to earn you more money. That's a common misconception.

I Know that there are decent cabbies out there. There are taxi drivers with good driving manners and habits. But of late, since decent jobs are hard to come by, stressed out individual turned to Taxi driving. So what do you get?

Frustrated bread winners, driving cabs.

Then Taxi companies, take in any Tom, Dick, or Harry, to drive their Taxis just so the companies can make off their daily struggles on our roads. I don't think they give much of a crap what kind of mental state their "new" drivers are in, or if they're in the habit of cutting into people's path or lane, or are basically SPeed Demons inside.

We're all living in a Commercial World Machine that sees not people, but MONEY.
