^spidee^ SG What are the chances that you'll win by calling in to donate? I believe that most callers donate because they truly want to contribute. If by donating is a sort of gambling, we might as well go buy raffle tickets. Look at the Ren Ci charity show. It doesn't offer any rewards whatsoever, but it still manages to reach its target year after year. Singaporeans don't need any inducements to show that they care, but it really sucks to see some charitable organisations becoming mere revenue-raking entities.

What is wrong with dying? The money to treat ONE cancer patient or to perform ONE kidney transplant could possibly feed a family of 10 in Africa for the next 50 years

timothytsgsg SG Well, I haven't been watching NKF charity shows for the last 2-3 years. I haven't made a NKF call in the last 5 years. So no, I don't think I'm a gambler- much less wanting to win one of their prizes. One lesson is enuff to tell me that they are nothing but liars anyway.
fudgester SG I've never made a single donation to NKF before - notwithstanding those donation cards forced unto me when I was a student. I was highly irked when they came out with all those condos and cars and contest prizes... all the more reason not to donate. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to see zero calls to this weekend's show as a show of protest, there will still be some of those who'll still call for the sake of winning prizes. Goes to show how shallow our society has become.
