those who dealings in malaysia will know how tendrs and
contracts are done and awarded.
it is different from the international practice.
certain groups will benefits from some $$$ if project go ahead and
certain that missed out will go against.
its big bucks and alot of interested parties wants tobe somehow
connected to get money.
to me i think sg gahment wants black and white as country and
state, they all must agree and officially black and white and stand
behind it all the way. if not like water case, who sign the water
treaty? as with all meetings with malaysia. you can see twist and
turns coming out of the FM mouth. when offer a good price in 1998 ,

and who's going to pay for it Johore, JB or federal? or they cannot
recover the cost or make to pay for using the bridge will they use
singapore as bashing bag to gain political victories.
every word and sentence must be as clear as possible and must be
agree as one single malaysia authority. and no twist and turn and
UTurn. and international honor contract must be honored. even so,
they may uturn as with the situation of $$$ capital control in 1998
and killing of clob. Now many of their clob companies are
disappearing with no new injection of capital and business.
but building a bridge that can be open for large vessels to cross
is stupid. it takes 30 mins to open or lift a draw bridge and 30
mins for only 2 vessels to cross. the vessels must also be piloted
by license pilot. the oil leakage by these large ships will also
pollute the shores
meanwhile what happens to cars,trucks , people ,all waiting so that
they can steal shipping business from singapore ports. one large
vessel takes 30 mins to cross, you figure out , how many vessels
can cross aday. do you think the $$$$ ships can wait. and imagine
it only takes 5 ships in waiting or queue to block the causeway
channel.
building 2 underground tunnels is better idea, but expensive.
i agree a new 6 story bridge needs to be build with pleasure craft
passing below. it will encourage leisure sea activities on both
sides of the shores.
the draw bridge can be lifted in cases of high activity of
terrorist alert.
