Our economy isn’t at all doing that well. THe next GE will be due soon I believe, so what do you think are PAP’s chances of winning? In my opinion, I think high chance they will win, reason being there’s currently no strong opposition in Singapore.

It's not the economy, only... two very very very poor families in this land of opportunities... two lives gone in an army where nothing wrong had reportedly gone wrong... which also means two families gonna sob...

If people die cos something wrong, then there's still correction possible... if nothing wrong and people still die... then our kids'd have to gamble with X% of product failure possibility...

$1,500 dollars false donation to NKF will be enough to destroy a family financially...

This GE is nothing. The issue is the next GE after this one.

The opposition is never going to be strong as long as LKY is still around. Still remember what my parents told me of the mid 80s Anson seat contest. The moment PAP secured the Anson, it went all out to destroy or rather to level the Worker's Party office in Bukit Merah. I think the older member of this forum will remember.

I will only remember PAP for it's hard handed and unforgiving policies which is till prevalent NOW. Perhaps the reason is because our dear LKY is still around and you know what he is like. If anyone opposes him, he WILL make sure he go all out to destroy him and his family.

What makes me so angry with them is how they TRY to cover up mistakes that were made in the past. One good example would be the 'STOP AT TWO' policy which LKY formulated in the late 70s. He wanted families to be kept small so that the population won't get out of control. It work then but not now. Families are getting smaller and smaller till there's a problem of a population decay. But of course, I would never expect PAP to admit it's oversight on this issue.

The success of Singapore is not by LKY. If he did...... why implemented 'STOP AT TWO' policy which LKY formulated in the late 60s. He wanted families to be kept small so that the population won't get out of control and parents will be able to provide better education for our children(to add this, must be fair to LKY). But he failed to foresee the growth of the economy that actually LKY had made a wrong decision which he won't admit.

Last year in Strait Times on 26 November 2004, on first page concerning the master of languages. Freaking government had been promoting bilingual in English and Chinese which resulted most people become half Fcuk in the both languages. Now, reluctantly he admitted that he was wrong that a person could never master both languages at the same time (Which he can't achieve, but if he could....hah..hah.... you will see...)
But he mentioned....parents are empower to let your children go for more English but less Chinese or more Chinese or less English; by mastering one language whether it will turn out to be useful or not, the choice is yours! Don't Blame the government.

Strait Times mentioned that LKY brought the English medium into the govt sys, of course LKY is English educated where he knew nothing about chinese or a little in malay. Great Great Sir Stamford Raffles started that millions years ago not LKY.

For now, the PAP will definitely win.

In international terms, winning the election is forming the government.

For Singapore elections, it is a matter of how many seats will the PAP win/lose and how many the Workers' Party/SDA/SDP will win/lose.

It isn't a big deal to me if say, the Workers' Party wins a GRC.

Strangely, to the PAP, it is a big deal Smile

It's how they will win that will sensationalise news...i.e. dangle more carrots, GRC upgrading, free Singapore power vouchers...

Pity abt the opposition. Lack of support, threat of being censured and lack of funds make it a no contest.

And LKY mentioned that PAP needs to entice the brightest to join their ranks? I dun think so. Just stifle the competition and make politics a sham. Any average ruthless individual can manage that.

Then people won't be bothered to waste time voting. It'll be a straight walkover....first time in history.

Ever notice about the past elections that the more people voted for say the PAP party, less and less people can vote in the subsequent election? If this is true, there'll just be less and less and eventually no one need to go to vote
despite having the right to vote in an election.

To me, going to the elections is not about voting for a candidate but the party that will continue to enable me to choose and vote again in future.

What's the use or future like when the main political party overrides the candidate you chose and make it such that you can't even choose and vote
in future?

Apathy is the first bell of doom for a society.The MIW want a depoliticised society so that they can have all the "cooperation" they want.But what is a state without a living and breathing institution of democracy and ideals?Is it a dynamic society anymore where the citizens are not bothered to think about issues that concern them?Looks more to me like a specific dynamism module installed rather than dynamism that comes naturally.

Not ture! A good opposition party is not built by over night. Like wise Pap don't and become powerful over night.

The problem here is.....before the opposition party gets stronger..pap will slammed the growing opposition party to death. Human nature.....you think LKY so gentleman to let good oppsition parties to grow? All crows are equally in black colour so as lky.

1) the LOUSY party or

2) the WORST party?

The choice is pretty simple - I will vote for the opposition !

PAP has failed to work for the interests of the people. Period!

Every policy they implemented must produce a substantial proft for Government e.g. COE, ERP, IRs (casino) - or they will never get on with it.

How else can you explain why heartlanders have to pay for HDB upgrading ..... and the defects in the HDB windows even !!!

Why should I vote for PAP when they now openly admit most Singaporeans will retire with little cash in the bank - and it appears there is nothing they (PAP) want to do to change that!

Can anyone truly call our election election per se with the GRC, four-fold increased election deposits, electoral boundary redrawing, state-controlled media and election-time goodies giving (some forms of vote buying) killing off the whole potential poliitical participation by the people?

I would call it : "General Delegation" instead of "General Election"
