well i dunno. i think its great that its getting media attention in singapore, because the people sitting on the fence between freedom and supression might make up their minds about free speech.

however, yeah in any normal society, this wouldnt be a big deal imo.

do u want reporters to just report the facts or do you want them to be a thinking press?

Just because the reporters've their opinions doesn't mean they should be slammed for that.

there're crime stories which are treated objectively and issues which the reporters have their comments on - accept that.

and also accept the fact that different people've different opinions. that's what freedom of speech means - not just one way.

if u're not happy - write to the press! there's a forum for that u know?

get it straight - TNP doesn't sensationalise stories. Get ur facts right.

Straits Times reports the same news, TNP does the same thing but gets more juicy details to pique the readers' interest.

is that sensationalising? i think not. it's essentially the same story, but with more details.

if the reader can't handle that, read Economist please.

Why do reporters target certain blogs and report on them? Because there are no leaked government documents for them to pore over. This is Singapore's TNP, not Britain's Daily Mirror, for Christ's sake. I'm very sure the Mirror has better things to report on.

i'm sure certain local blogs are targeted because its interesting, esp if someone decides to go all naked on it - otherwise why would people talk about it???

The TNP frequently blows a mediocre write-up into the fantastic.

You're either a blind reader or a TNP diehard. Like you said Economists are for facts the way new york times is for you.

And to add one more thing, their sports section is filled with cut and pastes from reuters, particular with soccer articles. Not a single line is written by their journalists.

Hardly newspaper-worthy material. Why dun you go check their soccer write-ups and compare them with any website...say soccernet?
