MM Lee calls for better info flow

In today Straits Times, MM Lee had called for better info flow between the malaysian and our papers.

"I think it'll be useful to consider loosening up the information flow" so citizens can "maintain a certain knowledge, intimacy of each other".

"SPH yesterday welcomed the opportunity, saying it would help readers on both sides keeup up with the develoments."

We should let the world knows what's happening in Singapore, and not to just the Malaysians. And to achieve that SPH could simply open up their newspaper portal (asia1), why should it lock up ourselves by implementing paid subscriptions on its online papers?

Hope SPH would relook into its paid membership business model on asia1.

Why be intimate and sleep with the Malaysians?

They "CLOBbered" us years ago and many many lost their life
savings. And what did the authorities from both sides do?
Shrug and left them to die on their own. And about water, how?

And now both authorities want to forget the past "atrocities"
and be friends again?

Well said, at least this portion of historical record is straight and remembered. CLOBered money belonged to ordinary singaporean, easy for government to say forget the "past".

How about a formal announcement from malaysia parliament never to use water as a threat to singapore, or extending the water agreement for another 100 yrs as a show of their willingness to be friends?

Considering the affiliation that SPH has with the Singapore government, many international observers would rather get their Singapore news from more independent sources like Associated Press and Agence France Presse instead.

An affiliation with a Malaysian news network would certainly raise the credibility of the news reported by The Straits Times. Since the ST and the PAP administration have such close ties, it would really help propagade pro-PAP things...

Not that the Malaysian news network is innocent of any siding... they are just slightly less partial than us, that's all.

If newspapers are licensed and renown journalist instantly lost his job for disagreeing with certain editorial censure by a very special editor as reported in one case to this forum recently, how can our press be only slightly more controlled or pro-government as compared with Malaysia? Laughing
