I've always known that foreign students are heavily subsidized, but the truth did not hit me until i saw the figures.

except that parents of local students are paying taxes for these foreigners....hell, to think that I pay more than 10k each year to support foreign students!

According to the figures from Singapore Ministry of Education, there is 1 foreign student for every 4 local students of each intake in NUS and NTU.

Wow - You are throwing money at them and you do not keep track of them? Basically, the government doesn't know how many are actually working in Singapore!

I think the foreign students should pay very much higher.
The taxpayers are the ones paying for it.
As a result, they keep increasing fees every year.

Most foreigners esp. China will not stay after they graduate cos their economy is booming. They use us as stepping stone before going US, UK etc

Also many S'porean students (esp. those in poly) who are deprived of a place have to go overseas to Australia.
Their parents are burdened with the high edn. costs.
We also lose them cos they might not want to return when they complete their edn.

Face it ladies and gentlemen, you are Singaporeans living in Singapore. And it is a fact known to everybody that Singaporeans in Singapore are second class citizens. There are many other threads on this issue.

I am not sure but i'm guessing yes. IE Scholarship will cover the rest of the fees + Living expenses.

1/4 ? hahaa....sure anot....how come i see so much Jade Dragons and PRCs leh....1/4 is maybe yrs ago, now is definitely not 1/4...MAE dun say, u go EEE and COE see loh....my friend in EEE say his tutorial class 'jit pian orh arm'....means total pitch of black....

i know quite a few PRCs, all say they will leave after serving the bond for half a yr or so cos got alot who finished their studies and AWOL back and told them this b4 they come over to ntu...see ! we are practically giving them free education.

They can fly back to China and dun return....China/India so big u think can gunneysack them bk to SG ? hahahaha....as long as they don't return to SG can liao...even if they return i think also bo dai ji cos i think PG won't be issued against them but i may be wrong though.
