My opinion on the incentives that will be dished out by the PAP:-

1. "More good years ahead"

2. "You need an experienced and proven leadership"; anybody else with alternative policies will result in catastrophic damage to our economy. In other words, Singapore, and everything you hold dear will fall into the chasm of Et3rnal D00m n Gl00m if you vote opposition!

Added 010205: LKY says, 'This is not an ordinary country. You have two election terms of a dud, lousy, incompetent government and you will set Singapore back so badly, it may take you decades to recover, and maybe never. If you dismantle the organisation that brought us here, don't believe it will come back.'

3. "STFU! I'm gonna sue you for defamation!"

4. "STFU! I'm gonne investigate you for inciting racial divisions!"

5. *cough* erhem...."up..." - *cough* "...grading" *cough* "and Lrt"

6. "Remember, we demonstrated how much we care for you by introducing the ERS scheme (can be substituted by almost anything Eg. Reduction of NS) ! has the opposition ever given you any money?! No?! HA! That shows they do not care about you! Let them put their money where their mouth is!"

Of course, as you will prolly have realized, i have taken a liberal interpretation of "incentives". Its a fine line so i hope nobody blames me.

The right timing to hold an election is when the economy has miraculously recovered strongly.

Will we see strong or weak economic results in 2005, 2006, 2007?

well, any political party can make promises if they get elected. but the problem why opposition cant make the promises because PAP has already got majority of seats before the election starts. this is politics. every country the same. in thailand we see how thaksin party will dominate the thailand politcal scene for years to come because he make a promise to the ppl of thailand and realise them. how bush promises for tax cuts that got him elected for his first term and realise them.

true indeed election is around the corner. how we know? because we have a new PM that try to build a team or leaders and this leaders need a full term (4-5yr)to do something. should the new PM decide to hold and wait, he has another 1+ yr before the next election due date.

if i dont remember wrongly, PAP scores the best victory when singapore is in economic crisis. just watch out for this clues.
