Why Mr Sitoh need a long term lease like that?
Is it appropriate for HDB to let one person has control of the
field and deny public a chance to use it?
===========
For Mr Chiam, there's the added insult of not having a proper
office
for his meet-the-people sessions - he has to use void decks
instead.
The most recent 'annoyance': that the HDB has leased a big field
in
Potong Pasir to his PAP opponent Sitoh Yih Pin for three years.
That
field is the site of past election rallies, and is used regularly
for
constituency events.
Mr Chiam's worry: With a three-year temporary occupation licence,
Mr
Sitoh has the right to use the field - and maybe the right to deny
him
the use of it - for election rallies.
Already, he says, his past two applications to Mr Sitoh to use
the
field were rejected as they clashed with the PAP's own
grassroots
functions held there.
