In my opinion, when the Avante was launched, it was sold at
around $68,000. Given the current price, I feel that now is
certainly a good time to purchase cars as COE premium have fallen
so steeply.
But do note that as car prices fall, market interest rates for
loans have risen to around 3.18% as banks are tightening
their loans requests. Also, although the car prices have fallen,
monthly maintenance of car including the insurance, petrol,
servicing, parking, road tax, ERP and other related
charges remains more or less on the high side. You may only
save on monthly instalments, if any.
At low COE prices, COE rebates will also be low if you wish to
change to another car in a few years' time. Hence, if you buy a car
now, it would be wise to drive for longer periods of
time to keep the depreciation low and make your
expenditure worthwhile.
Just my 2 cents' worth...
