I support banning of sexual language in radio Mr. Green

Sexual innuendoes should be limited to late-night radio.I miss Glenn Ong’s EGO TRIP and the rock/punk/alt tracks they used to play. Now its a repetitive playlist of Top 40 hits every day every week.We do not have a radio station that caters of the offbeat music that some might like.We need college radios and indie broadcasters. But I find it unlikely that our strait-laced MIW will ever see the intrinsic joy of such things. To them, its all “my way or the highway”.Not cultured, more like some Beng trying to tell you off.

I support the foreign talent scheme. At least they come closer than our local swimmers. Rolling Eyes

I support the govt policy regarding release of confidential information. Confidential info shd not be release to any Tom, Dick or Harry because such information could compromise our strategic interests if they fall into the wrong hands. Rolling Eyes

If ppl are serious about what they want to say and intend to stand by wat they said, why shd they be afraid to register ? I support registration of speakers.

If you have a loving wife, you don't need to listen to sexual language on the radio to get honry.

sexual language on the radio is usually meant for growing up kids who need to DIY to prove that it works.

It is better to carry on your fantasies.

I seriously doubt the masses in SG give a damn about sexual language on radio or not, coz they’re all kinda conservative/repressed anyway. So what’s the issue on sex talk? PLus as a guy just said, gf and wives exist, so do bf and husbands.

yeahh...haha...free speech on the condition that the speakers do not abuse it is inherently a paradox Wink if e govt wants to promote freedom of speech...then the speech itself should not have any restrictions.

yup i support a radio network that plays different type music to different listeners.. i used to listen to EGO TRIP when i was in jc mulling over f maths.. it was good, sometimes thought provoking.. and i enjoyed the sarcasm.. but i felt along the way radio went to hell and never quite feel the same anymore. i have since stopped listening.

we should have a radio station that plays alternative/punk, jazz, country, top 40s, soul/rap.. now all of them sound alike.

I agree with you: all the stations here tout to play the "best music", which in their own opinion is just the mainstream popular music, or Pop as we know it. So far, we only have Symphony 92.4 to play classics.

The reason why we do not have stations specialising in any genre is our small population. The radio audience is already a largely fragmented pie, with 5 major chinese radio stations, 5 major english radio stations fighting for audiences. With 4 million people (assuming they all listen to radio at all!), it is hard enough for the mainstream stations to gain advertising, not to mention stations like Symphony. In fact, radio in Singapore is also subsidised by the Media Development of Singapore, through the radio licences that people pay.

A solution would be a catch-all station, one that inter-mixes all the genres, potentially appealing to a wider breadth of audiences. Certain time-slots could be dedicated to exclusively a genre. But most likely, such a station would be under public service, rather than a profit generating media corporation.
