I've already become more or less disillusioned about this
country. Hope SAF doesn't even bother to call me back for In Camp
Training.
Despite all the talks, the prevalent culture in the government is
still the same. It's still about "We talk, you as citizens just shut up,
listen and follow my instructions" and the belief that
"There is only one vision and
policy that is pragmatic, practical and perfect -- no one should
challenge it with alternative ideas."
Each time we take a step forward, we're pushed back a step. Some
PAP newbie MPs thought they could voice alternative views and
opinions in the Parliament, and before they know it, the PAP
exercises the Party's Whip and struck them down hard.
OK, before I get too skeptical about everything, perhaps let's give
the new LHL's government some time, then we can conclude if
anything is changing at all and if the intention to be more open to
diverse ideas is there. If he's sincere about it, sooner or later
we can see his intention and we should support him.
I've got nothing personal against PAP or pro-opposition, just
dislike the heavy-handed way it conducts business. The worst thing
that could possibly happen is a free coffee session with the ISD,
with free aircon comfort thrown in.
