Should SM stay in new Cabinet?

Yes.
14.5%

No.
45.0%

It's up to the new PM.
11.2%

He deserves to take things easy after all he has done.
29.3%

My poll - a big NO

My opposition is because

- no MP would dare resolutely oppose unpopular constitution when he is present in parliament - watching and listening.

For eg 5% GST increase - there were only a few charades of anti-GST rise made in parliament by some MPs. These were quickly stepped aside without further resistence.

Too much of this old thing gets on my nerves - not to mention living costs will escalate if he continues to dictate at the helm. The elitists of course will like him to be around. They can get richer.

[/b]

conclusion? be the elitist and support SM's continual role in the gah'men

Let's look at things in another angle.

He is not an immortal and he is of old age.

So, how long can Goh be the Second Man ?

Or does Goh want to be a Second Man always ?

Nope,i think SM should be OUT!!!My father was forced to retired at the age of 62 who worked in a government job,i thought SM post is also a government job, then what make him so “special” can stay until 80 plus?

cause it an empire of his… sad many ppl say we are a communist island… somehow it true…

[email protected] SG

we can say yes, we can say no, honestly, if he wants to stay on, u think he gives a fark about what we think?

drawer SG

Ya,perhaps they are right,we are a communist island.Lou Lee has set a bad example which lead to it.

drawer SG

I think thats why former Malaysian PM Dr Mahathir quit his PM post entirely,i think he is hinting his old friend Lou Lee,if want to quit PM post quit entirely like him n the rest of the world leaders, dont stay behind n "pull the string".

A country needs good leaders who can only be groomed or thrown up through open political processes from the masses.

Such leaders could only be tested out through involvement in community activities, grass-roots organizations, trades and industries. The masses will support and nominate people with ideas, ideals and idealism as well as a sense of pragmatism to come forward for election to build a strong and properous country in the context of new world order.

At present, this selection process may be too narrow. Selection is confined to a small group many of whom have got into parliament due to allegiance and party loyalty. They were coopted to join politics in a play-safe screening process to suit party's ideas of leadership.

Many may be technocrats as they did not go through any contest or baptism by fire in open arena. They may be good in managing existing order and conventionalism not having the extra qualities and charisma needed to solve the bigger problems and issues we may be facing.

So far none of our 2nd and 3rd tier leadership seem to have succeeded in eradicating entrenched unworkable policies. They did not come across as people daring to put up their own visions to fit new challenges.

It is not too late for people to put up proven leaders from among trade and industry and professional bodies etc who are courageous and able persons to come forward to serve Singapore. Open up the political process to be accountable in leadership selection.

The present de-politisation, machinery and co-coption scheme will only hamper our progress in this direction as it is a containment process. We need leadership renewal for Singapore survival and wellbeing by removing all constraints and openning up to participation by all so that the right leadership will come forward to contribute the nation building. Appointing leaders from the masses will be a good legacy to the retiring leaders and people will greatly appreciate such a contribution. Rolling Eyes

Anyway,i think Lou Lee should be go for good.He is rich mah,he also old already and can slowly enjoy his rest of his “Ah Pek” days already, why he still have to “take control” of everything and being hated by so many ppl,i am really puzzle! If i were him,i would be most happy to give up my job if i am rich and dont need to work so hard even if i can “take control” of everything.Life is short, why do some ppl have to waste their times “struggling” for power when they are already “old” liao?

dumbdumb! SG

so that he can sabo singapore b4 his expiry date comes? b4 expire, he piss off usa, china and everyone else as a big practical joke?

oldbreadstinks SG

maybe need to see that his useless son don't screw up and cause his family to lose power? Laughing Twisted Evil

or maybe its just too hard to let go Mr. Green

drawer SG

LOL,but from my point of view,he is long been expired liao.I mean a person cant really fight with ageing right,no matter how well he try to cover up his age!

drawer SG

You know to me money is really important, but power, aaaa, not really that important. So i really hard to imagine how hard it will be for that Lou Lee to let go.If really want to compare,i think leaving a good reputation behind is much more important than having power,i mean what is the use of having power but getting curse by everyone else, right or not?

oldbreadstinks SG

too late, he's already cursed by everyone and leaving behind a lousy reputation

Yes, we are always told to make way for fresh blood that’s why we have retrenchment & early retirement. They should practice what they preached.
